Who I Am

I'm a full stack developer and systems builder who's spent years figuring out what users actually need, not just what they say they want. I've learned that the best software often solves problems people didn't even know how to articulate.

My path started at a corporate bank where I taught myself Visual Basic to automate spreadsheet hell. That small win led to Ruby on Rails, then Computer Science degrees at Trent University (both undergrad and grad), and eventually to building systems that matter.

These days, I focus on AI and agentic systems - not because it's trendy, but because I've seen how these technologies can solve real problems when applied thoughtfully. I build the infrastructure and applications that make AI useful in production, not just in demos.

What I Do

I build practical software systems that combine solid engineering with applied AI. My work tends to fall into three areas:

  • Full stack development - I've built enough production systems to know what works and what doesn't, from user interfaces to APIs
  • AI systems and agent infrastructure - making AI actually useful in real applications, not just demos
  • Developer tools and automation - because engineers shouldn't have to deal with the same problems repeatedly

The most interesting work happens at the intersection of user needs and technical possibilities. I've spent years learning how to listen to what people are really saying, and more importantly, what they're not saying.

I also spend a lot of time translating between technical and non-technical teams. After seeing too many projects fail due to poor communication, I've learned that being a bridge is often more valuable than being the smartest person in the room.

How I Think

Good engineering is mostly about showing up and doing the work. After years of building systems and seeing them succeed (and fail), I've learned that the solutions that last are usually the simple ones that solve real problems.

I care about building things that work reliably and can be maintained by the people who come after me. Whether it's an API or an AI system, I'm always thinking about whether someone else can understand and modify this six months from now.
